Surfers Paradise is the most vertical stretch of the Gold Coast, a dense run of high-rise residential and holiday apartment towers. Many were built from the 1970s through the 1990s and 2000s, sitting on shared risers and slab-run plumbing that was never designed to be dug up. When pipe in a building like that fails, there are really only two options: open the slab or reline it. Opening a slab in an occupied strata building means jackhammering through someone's floor, a car park, or common property, with body corporate approval on top.
Then there's the air itself. Buildings right on the esplanade take constant direct salt exposure, and that's harder on external fittings, roof plumbing and exposed metalwork than a few kilometres inland. It doesn't change how we reline a pipe, but it's part of why older external pipework in beachfront buildings tends to show its age earlier than the same pipe would elsewhere.

We run a camera through the line to confirm exactly where the damage sits, how long it runs, and the pipe diameter and material.
In a strata building, this usually means working through an existing access point (a floor waste, a manhole, a cleanout in the car park) and coordinating timing with the resident or body corporate. We work with the building's rules, not around them.
The old pipe gets jetted and cut clean so the liner bonds properly. Roots, scale and build-up come out first.
The resin liner goes in through the existing access point, inflates against the pipe wall, and cures in place, typically within a day.
A second camera pass confirms the new pipe is smooth end to end, with no wrinkles or gaps, before we sign off.
There's no flat rate we can quote without seeing the pipe. Cost depends on the length and diameter of the run, how many bends or joints it has, how accessible the access point is, and, in a high-rise, what floor it's on and whether it's a straightforward common-property job or needs body corporate sign-off first. We give you an upfront, fixed price after the camera inspection, before any work starts, and there's $0 call-out fee for that camera inspection. No surprises once the job is underway, and the liner itself is rated for around fifty years once it's cured in place.
For most strata buildings, yes. The alternative is breaking into a slab that runs under other units, a car park or common property, which means far more disruption, reinstatement cost and body corporate approval than a lined pipe run through an existing access point.

The liner is rated for around fifty years, and in practice tends to outlast the pipe it went into. It's a continuous sleeve with no joints for roots to find.

Had an issue with our 16 year old toilet leaking from underneath the pan somewhere. Called Blake & he sent Lachlan out the following morning to diagnose & quote. Lachlan gave us 3 options, which was great. We chose the middle one, which included replacing all the internals, so hopefully we should be OK for another 16 years! Both Blake & Lachlan were great to deal with & Lachlan did a great job - definitely better than the original installation, which looked a bit dodgy! Happy to recommend.

Absolutely amazing service from the moment I got in touch with them, and in particular Blake. I explained to him my issue and he took the time and effort (completely unprompted) in providing steps of how he would tackle the problem. When it came time to actually have the issue physically looked at, Lachie gave me a call and let me know how far away he was; he arrived promptly and on-time, and was able to very quickly diagnose and provide a solution. I was quoted on the spot and not pressured whatsoever to have more things looked at than I needed to, which I very much appreciated. While I've got my fingers crossed to not have any further short-term issues with my property's plumbing, I'd wholeheartedly recommend these guys and gals to anyone willing to listen. I'm sure there are many other great plumbing businesses around the Gold Coast, but for my money I'd much rather support a local family-owned business providing a very honest and transparent service, who also aren't looking to bleed your wallet dry.
Very happy with the service from Genies Plumbing. We had a leaking kitchen tap and Blake was out in a couple of hours. He sourced a new one, came back later in the day and fitted it. He advised his arrival times very efficiently and was friendly and polite. Would certainly recommend him and call on him again when necessary.

Blake and Lachlan assisted us with a very complex realignment. They were brilliant. I called Blake to help locate a tricky water leak on our acreage property, he quickly identified multiple leaks on both the council and our side of the line and got them all fixed. He kept us informed every step of the way, and was incredibly responsive and professional, and a genuinely nice person.
