Coomera's still a young suburb by Gold Coast standards, which means most of the pipework under these estates hasn't had the decades of wear that causes relining jobs elsewhere. But new doesn't mean immune. Coomera is one of the fastest-growing corridors on the northern Gold Coast, built out largely in the last five to fifteen years around the train station and the surrounding business precinct, with Dreamworld sitting just to the south. Most homes here are on estate land that was cleared and filled before construction, and that fill keeps settling for years after the last house goes up. A pipe that was laid dead straight on day one can end up with a low point or a stress crack once the ground underneath it has finished moving.
The other pattern we see is quality variation in the original plumbing rough-in. On a fast-build estate, dozens of homes go up on the same timeline, and not every pipe run gets the same care during backfill and compaction. It usually doesn't show until the driveway, the turf and the retaining walls are already finished - which is exactly when digging it up stops being a reasonable option.

We run a camera through the line first. Nothing gets quoted off a guess - the footage shows exactly where the damage is, how far it runs, and whether the pipe is actually a candidate for lining.
High-pressure jetting clears any debris, roots or buildup so the liner bonds properly.
A resin liner goes in through an existing access point, is positioned over the damaged section, and cures in place to form a new pipe wall inside the old one.

Every relining job is priced after we've actually seen the pipe. Cost depends on the length and diameter of the run, how many bends are involved, how many access points we can use, and whether any section needs a patch versus a full liner. We'll give you a firm price before any work starts - nothing added on afterwards - and there's no call-out fee to come and camera the line. Once it's in, the liner is rated for around fifty years, so even on a young estate it's a repair that's meant to outlast the house's first few decades, not just get you past the warranty period.
For most damaged pipes under a driveway, pool surrounds or finished landscaping, yes - it costs less than digging the section out once you account for reinstating concrete, paving or turf, and it avoids the disruption of a dig-up altogether. Whether it's worth it for a specific pipe comes down to what the camera shows, which is why we inspect before we quote.
There isn't a fixed per-metre rate we can quote without seeing the pipe. Price depends on the pipe's diameter, how many bends and junctions are involved, access, and the condition of the section being lined. Had an issue with our 16 year old toilet leaking from underneath the pan somewhere. Called Blake & he sent Lachlan out the following morning to diagnose & quote. Lachlan gave us 3 options, which was great. We chose the middle one, which included replacing all the internals, so hopefully we should be OK for another 16 years! Absolutely amazing service from the moment I got in touch with them, and in particular Blake. I explained to him my issue and he took the time and effort (completely unprompted) in providing steps of how he would tackle the problem. Very happy with the service from Genies Plumbing. We had a leaking kitchen tap and Blake was out in a couple of hours. He sourced a new one, came back later in the day and fitted it. I called Blake to help locate a tricky water leak on our acreage property, he quickly identified multiple leaks on both the council and our side of the line and got them all fixed.
